I have truely been a slacker. So many things to write about but most prominent in my mind is Philip is only with us for 3 more weeks. His parents arrive 3 weeks from today. He has fully bonded with the girls. He is such a part of the family unit.
We camped this weekend and he fits in with our friends and their kids so well. He must have been unbelievably bored but never shows us. We kept threatening to put the kids in has tent and he was less than amused. He loved bingo, Idaho style. Too bad we didn't get to tube the little river(creek) near our camp site.
He off with friends alot. Skateboarding alot. He brings his friends over more now. We feed them occasionally as well which we'd prefer than having him gone all day. Can't really fathom life after he leaves. It will be strange.

Moab and School
Our trip to Moab was fun. Philip was able to go on a mountai bike ride on slickrock and we sceduled a hummer trip for he and the boys, plus Arden. Needless to say he was pretty tired Saturday evening.
He was our babysitter Sat am. I don't think he truely gets how to babysit/watch kids! The babies had poops in their diapers when we returned and had drawn on the walls. No one was missing so there was that!!
The hike to the Delicate arch was beautiful. He seemed to like it and is in our annual family photo. He hung well with the kiddos all weekend. His chioce of TV with them present was at best questioable but if nothing else opened up dialogue between Arden, William Sara and I. Like 'why are the girls on MTV's Big Black???(forgot the name?) trying to get this one skateboarder guy i bed? And why are they dressed i those clothes? Anyway, I hope Arden sees the difference between herself and them!!
Now as far as school. He has had questionable marks this semester. We know boarding is getting in the way. He has not driven with his Drivers Ed teacher enough. He claims the times were always full...on the days he wasn't wanting to board perhaps! He seemed slightly annoyed that we busted him on that last night. He seems to be caring less and less about school and more about just hanging out. He is not even sure what he is taking next semester? We do still expect him to do well in school and unfortunately he is not a Sr. like his friends who can get out early. He claims the time slots are full till after spring break for driving with his teacher which oddly enough is when the snow will be gone! Hmm...seems fishy. I know he thinks he is clever but Dennis and I weren't born yesterday!

Swim Banquet Dinner
I went with Philip to the dinner as the girls would have been all over the place. It was fun and funny! I was practically the only 'mom' sitting at the same table with their kid. Most parents had strick orders to sit elsewhere!
Philip happily ate my helping of chicken...much to his friends shagrin. Altho I hear from the other parents that he eats way more than most kids. Even boys!
He got a Sr towel, a great picture of himself swimming and probably the most special was the MVP of the men's team. It was given by the coaches! He seemed surprised and pleased.
The video was great and his kid photo of him with the Viking helmet kind of gave him away. All in all it was a good, albiet long evening. He collected all the balloons for the girls and we laughed as we drove home with them in the car! He knows Mary Ann especially loves balloons!

The Ballet
We went to see another ballet last evening. This will be Philip's 2nd. Unfortunately he was pretty far away as we had friends with us and he sat clear on the end of the row.
The ballets were Gong which was contemporary ballet and Madame Butterfly which was very dramatic. He said Gong was boring, which I could see.He liked Butterfly but did fess up to missing the last 10 minutes of because he fell asleep! He was laughing about it. He said it wasn't the ballet but the fact that it was so late. Anyway, exposure to dance is good and my husband has been known to snooze during ballets too!
I hope he finds a liking for it because at home in Sweden he has a very fine ballet company to go see...The Swedish National.

Last day at State
Hi Mats and Lena,
Philip did so well at the State competion! He was having so much fun and looked so relaxed! He swam his best times for the year in both races and improved his placing. His relays both placed 4th. Afterwards he came up into the stands and watch the rest of the meet. He seemed happy to have it done. I had missed him. The team had stayed overnight in the hotel where the meet was held and we could only talk to him from the stands. I'm glad he will be back home now!:)
I love watching him interact with his friends. He is such a jokester and seems to have found some good friends on the team in Ian and Brandon. We were so proud of him. We have videod his races and my husband will post them on his facebook page.
I am truely loving your son now and am so greatful you let him come to live with us. I get sad in anticipation of him leaving. But I'm sure you are ready for the months to pass quickly and I can understand that!
Many happy regards,
MAggie

first day at Utah State Championships

Hi Mats and Lena,
I know you will hear all about it tomorrow from Philip but I wanted to tell you about Philip's first night at State. He looked so relaxed and was very focused. He waved to us before each race and would smile so big. Of course I was screaming my head off "Go Philip!!" so he may have been thinking I was the Crazy-Host-Mom! His relay placed 4th and improvd thier time by 4 seconds. He placed 7th in the 200 IM and took 4 seconds off his previous best time also!! He was also ranked 9th going in so jumped 2 places! He looks great in the water. We are excited for his swims today.
Will update later!

The Laundry
One of the first things I wanted to Philip to make his own was keeping his room clean and doing his laundry. He'll clean his room, if I ask him to directly...no joking about it because then he won't! He'll even clean his bathroom which I refuse to do...I just hate cleaning bathrooms!! But his laundry has been a hold out. He manages to get most of it in a hamper but the other night after my umpteenth load i asked him if he wanted to learn how to do it. Well the look I got said it all but he got up anyway. He separated his darks and I showed him the rest and voila...he was done. I told him his mom/girlfriend would be very impressed. He didn't seem to agree but was laughing about it.
Baby steps!!
